Trump just made a very strategically smart move last night. GOP Chairman, Reince Priebus was announced as his White House Chief of Staff. Priebus was successful in uniting the party behind Trump, something liberals and centrists thought was impossible. Despite losing public support from Republican stalwarts such as Mitt Romney, John McCain, and both Bush presidents, Trump managed to sweep the primaries with a Caesar-like victory.
But with some promising control over Trump’s administration, Priebus could help steer away the president-elect from radicalising on his immigration policy, as well as ditching the Muslim ban.
But Trump would still need to repeal ObamaCare. Every Republican has blasted the Act. They will want results. And if Trump were to lose in 2020, Priebus could also lose respect from within the party. And share a lot of the blame for the party’s losses.
